The Pentax KM is what the K1000 should have been. Pentax decided back then to stripped down the Pentax KM and call it the K1000 to export to the USA. The KM and the K1000 share the same internal mechanics and functions but the K1000 lacks the preview and timer function. You are getting a much better camera than the K1000. The camera comes with either a Pentax 50mm or Pentax 55mm kit lens on a first available basis. We created these ready to shoot camera kits to make it easy for people to get into photography. As lots of things can go wrong with a mechanical camera that is typically 30-40 years ago, we take our time to check and restore all the functions. Mechanically, they all work the same so the difference is purely cosmetic. If you care a lot about the item condition, we suggest you look at only ones in VERY GOOD condition.
